Primary Blog/How to Price Like a Premium Brand...Even If You're Not 'There Yet'

Let’s clear something up real quick:

If you’re still pricing based on what you think people will pay.

YOU'RE UNDERCHARGING.

And if you’re constantly tweaking your rates, discounting without being asked, or pricing from a place of fear instead of data, then it’s time to stop playing small and start pricing like the premium brand you already are.

Yes, even if:

  • You're still building authority
  • You’re not booked out (yet)
  • You’re worried people will say things like “you’re too expensive”

Because here’s the truth:

You don’t wait to raise your prices until you feel like a premium brand. You raise your prices to BECOME one.

In this post, I’m breaking down exactly how to price for profit, power, and premium positioning. Plus, how to get your financials in order before tax season blindsides you.

Why Most Women Entrepreneurs Undersell Themselves

Let's be real. Most women business owners aren’t undercharging because they want to.

They’re doing it because:

  • They’re scared people won’t pay more (or know that people will pay more!)
  • They don’t know their numbers (so they can’t confidently price for profit)
  • They think they need more experience / followers / “proof”
  • They're copying competitors who are also undercharging

Sound familiar?

This pricing trap is costing you more than money. It’s costing you time, energy, and respect. And worst of all, it’s keeping your business stuck.

What Does It Mean to Be a “Premium Brand”?

First, let’s define it:

A premium brand doesn’t just charge more for the same thing.

It:

  • Delivers consistent, high-quality results
  • Communicates its value clearly
  • Attracts clients who are invested, not flaky
  • Positions itself with confidence and clarity

But most importantly?

  • A premium brand doesn’t compete on price: because it’s not playing that game.

If you’re solving real problems, delivering real transformation, or helping people get their time, energy, health, or money back...that is premium value.

Pricing from Emotion vs. Pricing from Strategy

Here’s where most women business owners go wrong:

They feel into their pricing instead of calculating it.

They say things like:

  • “$2,000 just feels like too much…”
  • “No one in my industry charges that…
  • “I wouldn’t pay that, so I can’t charge it…”

All of these statements come from emotion, not data.

And girl...emotion doesn’t pay your bills.

Step 1: Know Your Financials (Before You Set Another Price)

Before you touch your pricing, you need to get crystal clear on:

  • Your fixed monthly costs (software, team, rent, etc.)
  • Your variable costs per offer (materials, delivery, hours spent)
  • Your desired owner pay (because you are not a volunteer)
  • Your tax reserve needs (hint: 15–30% of profit should be set aside)

If you haven’t been pricing with profit in mind, you could be undercharging by thousands without even realizing it.

This is why we always advise our clients to get their books clean before year-end. Not only does it save you headaches come January, it gives you the clarity to raise your rates with confidence and proof.

Step 2: Reverse Engineer for Profit

Want to price like a premium brand? Start with the end in mind.

  • Most entrepreneurs use the wrong formula when setting prices.

They try to add things together like this:

  • Owner Pay + Expenses + Profit = Revenue

Nope. That’s not how profit works. Profit is a percentage of your revenue, not a separate line item.

Here’s how to calculate your pricing accurately, like a real CEO:

The Correct Formula

(Owner Pay + Business Expenses) ÷ (1 - Desired Profit Margin) = Required Revenue+

Then:

Required Revenue ÷ # of Clients = Price Per Offer

Example:

Let's say you want to:

  • Take home $100K/yr in owner pay
  • Cover $50K/year in business expenses
  • Keep a 20% net profit margin (meaning 20% of revenue stays in the business after all expenses + owner pay)

STEP-BY-STEP:

1. Add up your owner pay + expenses:

  • $100K (pay) + $50K (expenses) = $150K in required net costs

2.  Divide by your desired profit margin:

  • $150K ÷ (1 - 0.20) =
  • $150K ÷ 0.80 = $187,500 in required revenue

3.  Divide by number of clients/sales per year:
Let's say that you can handle 50 clients/year:

  • $187,500 ÷ 50 = $3,750 per offer

Boom. Now you’re not guessing.

You’re pricing based on facts, not fear.

Why This Matters for Tax Season:

If you don’t build profit into your pricing, then come tax season, you’ll be stuck:

  • Pulling from your personal savings
  • Not being able to pay yourself
  • Panicking over a bill you could’ve planned for

Pricing based on your actual financial needs and profit margin protects you from cash flow crises when it matters most.

Step 3: Evaluate Your Offer Positioning

Let’s say you have determined that your offer needs to be $5,000. Great.

But now you need to back it up with:

  • Clean branding
  • Clear and strong copy/messaging
  • Solid results (testimonials, case studies, or proof of process)
  • Clear transformation (HINT: what are they actually buying?)

Premium pricing requires premium positioning.

And guess what? You don’t have to be fancy. You just have to be clear.

Clients aren’t paying for “modules” or “sessions.”
They’re paying for results.
They’re buying time saved, income earned, stress avoided, pain removed.

Step 4: Implement a Pricing System That Builds Wealth

Pricing isn’t just about charging more. It’s about what you do with that income.

When we help clients price strategically, we also help them:

  • Allocate revenue into smart categories like: Tax Reserve, Operating Expenses, Owners Pay, etc.
  • Automate transfers (using tools like Relay Financial or Novo)
  • Prepare for quarterly taxes (so they’re not wrecked in April)
  • Save for scaling, not just surviving

Premium pricing + proactive financial systems = long-term wealth.

That’s how you stop the revenue rollercoaster and build a business that actually pays you well.

“But I’m Not There Yet…”

If that voice just popped into your head, let’s shut her down.

You do not have to:

  • Be a celebrity in your industry
  • Have 10,000 followers
  • Be fully booked out
  • Have a fancy office
  • Wait until 2025

To raise your prices. To get your financial house in order. To stop winging it.

You are already the premium version of your brand. You just need your pricing and financial systems to reflect that.

Final Word: Raise the Price. Run the Numbers. Respect the Brand.

You are not “too early” to price like a premium brand.
You’re not “too small” to build wealth.
You’re not “too late” to fix your financials before tax season.

What you are… is ready.

  • Ready to be paid for your excellence
  • Ready to stop guessing
  • Ready to stop fearing the IRS and start preparing like a pro
  • Ready to stop spinning and start scaling
